My Lord:-

With reference to my despatch No.29, Trea-

ty of the 8th of April, I have the honour to trans-

mit to Your Lordship herewith translation of a Note

from Count Lamsdorff, informing me that in view of

the decisions of the Supreme Prize Court declaring

that both the Steamships "Arabia" and "Calchas" were

detained on sufficient grounds and with the obser-

vance of the necessary formalities, the Ministry of

Marine find that Mr. A.H. Rennie's claim for compen-

sation for losses sustained in consequence of the de-

tention of these ships cannot be satisfied.

It is however pointed out that Mr. Rennie

is at liberty, if he wishes it, to present his claim

to the proper prize Court.
